Bratwurst and Beer
Can’t get enough of Wisconsin’s Northwoods? Put two of our favorites together: the World’s Best Brats and your favorite choice of beer. Bingo! The end result is worth the cooking time.
- 2 lb Trig’s Smokehouse World’s Best bratwurst
- 2 medium onion
- 12 oz beer
- 1 tbsp prepared mustard
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 1 lb small red potatoes
- 10 oz green beans
Cut each bratwurst crosswise into 2 to 3 pieces. Cut each onion into 8 wedges.
In 3-quart casserole or bowl, combine bratwurst and onions; cover with casserole lid or large plate. In microwave, cook on high (100% power) for 12 minutes, stirring mixture every 4 minutes and pushing cooked pieces from edge of dish to center. Drain well; return bratwurst and onions to casserole.
In 2-cup glass measuring cup, stir beer, flour, mustard, salt, and pepper until smooth; pour mixture over drained bratwurst mixture.
Pierce the skin of each potato with fork in several places. Arrange the potatoes on top of bratwurst mixture around edge of casserole; cover with casserole lid or large plate. Cook at HIGH for 10 minutes, stirring after 5 minutes.
Separate frozen green beans under running warm water and drain on paper towels. Stir beans into bratwurst mixture. Cover and cook at medium high (70% power) 20 to 25 minutes until potatoes and beans are tender, stirring every 5 minutes.
